Cookie Policy
The complete list of cookies and browser storage this site uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind at any time.
1. What this covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on this website. Orvo is built, owned and operated fully by Orton Industries LLC. Orton Industries LLC ("we", "us") runs this website. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information more generally, and our Terms of Use.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise your browser on a later page or a later visit. Local storage and session storage do a similar job with data your browser keeps on your device, and we treat them under this policy too because the effect on you is the same.
A first-party cookie is set by the site you are on. A third-party cookie is set by another company whose code runs on the page — for us, that isHeyCatch and Google Analytics, and only if you allow analytics.
3. Your choice, and how to change it
The first time you arrive we ask before writing anything optional. The Google tag is already in the page with storage denied, which is how Google's own scanner finds it. Choosing "Reject all" is a real rejection: no analytics cookie is written, including HeyCatch, and the page behaves exactly the same. "Customize" lets you decide category by category.
You can change your answer whenever you like. This reopens the same dialog, and you can also reach it from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
4. The full list
Strictly necessary — always on
These make the site work and remember your own choices. They set no identifier that follows you anywhere, and they cannot be switched off without breaking the thing they support. Under UK and EU rules they do not require consent.
| Name | Type | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
pillar_consent_v1 | Local storage | Orvo (first party) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we do not ask again on every page. | Until you clear it or change your choice |
pillar_attribution | Session storage | Orvo (first party) | Remembers which link or campaign brought you here, so a claim made further down the page is credited correctly. Holds no name or email. | Until you close the tab |
HeyCatch — off unless you allow it
These let us count visits, clicks, and which campaign produced a claim. None of them are written until you accept analytics, and rejecting costs you nothing.
| Name | Type | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Keys beginning ph_ | Cookie and local storage | HeyCatch (third party) | Keeps a session so page views and clicks on this visit are one story, and remembers the browser on a later visit. | Up to 1 year |
Google Analytics — off unless you allow it
These tell us how many people visit, which sections they read and which pages produce claims. None of them are written until you accept, and rejecting costs you nothing.
| Name | Type | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Cookie | Google Analytics (third party) | Tells one browser apart from another using a randomly generated identifier. | 2 years |
_ga_<container id> | Cookie | Google Analytics (third party) | Keeps the state of your visit so a single session is not counted as several. | 2 years |
We run Google Analytics with IP anonymisation on, and with Google Signals and advertising personalisation off. We do not build advertising audiences and we do not sell what analytics tells us. Google's own handling of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab), and you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab) to refuse it on every site at once.
We also use Google Search Console, which reports anonymous, aggregated statistics about the searches that surface this site. It sets nothing on your device.
5. What we do not use
Worth saying plainly, because most sites this size do at least one of these:
- No advertising, retargeting or conversion-tracking pixels.
- No social network embeds or share buttons that phone home.
- No session recording, heatmaps or mouse tracking.
- No device fingerprinting, and no attempt to work around your choice.
- No selling or sharing of your data for cross-context behavioural advertising.
6. Controlling cookies in your browser
Independently of the choice you make here, your browser can block or delete cookies. Look under Settings for "Privacy", "Cookies" or "Site data" in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari or Brave. Blocking everything will break parts of many websites; on this one it will simply mean we ask you about cookies again on every visit, because the answer you gave cannot be remembered.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a recognised opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we treat it as declining analytics(Google Analytics and HeyCatch) and as an opt out of any sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You do not need to do anything else.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie, this table changes with it and the effective date at the top moves. Where a new category needs your permission, we will ask again rather than assume the answer you gave for something else.
9. Contact
